The recorded finish

Tiangong Ultra won the Beijing humanoid half marathon on 19 April 2025 with a reported time of 2 hours 40 minutes 42 seconds. The city’s race report lists 20 robot teams. It describes Tiangong Ultra as about 1.8 m tall and around 55 kg. [1]

The course distance in the organizer’s early notice was 21.0975 km. That notice carried an earlier planned date, so this article uses the April race report for the date on which the event happened. [2] [1]

A transparent calculation

The reported time is 160.7 minutes, or about 2.6783 hours. Dividing 21.0975 km by that time gives a course-average speed of about 7.88 km/h. This is a calculation from the reported finish time and distance.

That average does not describe peak speed. It also cannot separate running time from stops or penalties without a detailed timing record.

The rules notice and the final race date

The 6 March announcement described a 21.0975 kilometre course and permitted remote, partly autonomous and autonomous operation. It allowed battery or robot replacement and specified a 10 minute penalty for each robot replacement. This was an advance notice that still gave 13 April as the planned date. [2] [1]

The race-day report places the actual event on 19 April. Keep the advance rules notice separate from the final result because it is not a complete final scorecard. [2] [1]

Control context for the winning run

Later district coverage describes Tiangong's 2025 marathon navigation as partly autonomous and based on ultra-wideband positioning. The finish time alone does not establish the complete support history. [3]

For a technical follow-up, ask for time-stamped telemetry alongside an uncut race recording. That would connect a visible stop or gait change to what was happening inside the robot.
